How to pick the best wireless gaming keyboard

Wireless gaming keyboards threw us off when it came to price — many are typically priced at a hundred bucks, with some even going below that fifty dollar mark. If your budget is important and you’d like to grab a simple solution without many bells and whistles at a cheap price, we found a few models mixed in our list to keep in mind. Otherwise, if you’re into spending a few more dollars for some extra features that will arguably (for some, and it depends on your game and level) elevate your game flow as well as overall performance, we recommend going as high as you can to make sure you have that edge while you’re gaming.

Wireless Gaming Keyboards

As you start to see increases in price and typically with most gaming equipment in general, you’ll see certain “features” and ways that you can “step up your game” (for lack of better terms). So as you browse through our picks and we highlight what sets them apart from others, try to see which features are “musts” and which are “busts”. This will of course depend on the reader. Features to keep your eye on include: extra programmable keys to assign your game hotkeys (to us this a must), LCD screens for browsing, comfort wrist pads, special types of keys (whether it material or size), back lights (not a must nor bust, but really a plus), slim designs, and more.

Do you already have your wireless gaming mouse? We’ve found and included a few “combo” models that include both a wireless keyboard as well as mouse in case you’d like to save even more money. How about your wireless gaming headset? There aren’t any combos with headsets out there, but we mention this to make sure you have your budget factored in accordingly. If not, be sure to read those guides we just linked after you pick your wireless gaming keyboard.

The top 10 best wireless gaming keyboards

Logitech G510

Buy in US | UK

To kick off the list, we have one of our favorite picks as the best wireless gaming keyboards in the market today. As you’ll notice later on, Logitech has quite a few picks in here and it isn’t just because they’re a “popular brand”. When it comes to keyboards and merely all computer accessories in general, through our experience we’ve felt nothing but top-notch quality and super affordable price-points. With this G510, you’re getting numerous gaming-specific features we love. There’s an impressive and quite useful game panel LCD at the top of the keyboard which gives you in-game information and character status for convenience, some custom-color back-lighting, a whopping 18 programmable function keys, as well as a separate mute, headphone, and mic jack literally on the keyboard for easy plugging and use of your other gaming necessities.

We love the Logitech G510 as the best wireless keyboard for gaming not only because of the numerous user reviews to back it up, but the additional features it provides us that many aren’t used to with a simple computer keyboard to ultimately up our gaming experience that much further. We’d recommend sticking with this if you needed an immediate answer, otherwise we’ll give you some more options below if you wish.

Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E.M

Buy in US | UK

Up next and as a near second place as the best wireless gaming keyboard, the S.T.R.I.K.E.M. is made by a relatively well-known gaming gear brand for those who look for some pizzazz in their accessories. This particular model is pretty affordable in the lower price-point yet still provides some extras for our gaming skills to reach its optimal potential. We have media control at that top left in case you want to watch some TV series or movies on your computer when you’re taking a break from your games, special “P.U.L.S.E. scissor keys” that aren’t quite mechanical but still give us a better feel than normal keys, and of course our beloved Bluetooth technology to connect without a wire (please make sure your computer supports BT! — most newer models do).

It’s also super lightweight and portable at only 190 grams, so if you plan on going to a LAN party or anywhere else to game, you’re completely fine (just make sure you keep it safe). There’s also some customizable backlighting, which is never a must of course but is always fun to tweak and customize to our liking (especially if you play in the dark a lot like us). The Mad Catz S.T.R.I.K.E.M. is affordable and impressive when it comes to additional functions for a wireless gaming keyboard, although there just aren’t as many functional keys as the previous Logitech pick if you’re OK with that.

Razer Turret

Buy in US | UK

Razer makes their first appearance in this guide, and although we were hesitant to include this model due to the lack of extra keys for increased game flow, we still felt it would suit some of you depending on your intended application (and game you plan on playing as well). The first key here as you can see is it’s the first keyboard and mouse combo we have in the guide, so if you needed a new wireless mouse alongside your keyboard you can save some money with this package. Razer considers and coins this a “living room and lapboard” gaming mouse and keyboard, meaning as opposed to using it for a PC or Mac on a standard desk, you can turn that functionality into your lap or on your coffee table if you game in your living room. We’re not sure how many people actually play games on their lap, but we do know a lot of gamers who do so in their living room on a bigger TV or projector, so you can always place it on your stand or table as well.

What we love most about this one is the overall quality of the materials they’ve used — the design is very slim and keys feel nice and sleek. The battery life is apparently up to 4 months on this one for the keyboard, and mouse up to 40 hours of continuous use in case you’re a big gaming binger. Although a bit different from others considered to be the best wireless gaming keyboard, the Razer Turret may be the one for you if you’re into living room gaming, or just want something sleek and versatile on your desk.

Logitech K750

Buy in US | UK

Another Logitech gaming keyboard here, and this particular K750 model is still affordable yet provides another different spin for wireless gaming — solar power. One of the biggest concerns for wireless gear or really wireless electronics in general is, of course, batteries. Logitech wanted to get rid of that middle-man and give us an even more convenient experience, and as you can see in the photo they have built-in solar sensors at the top of the unit. Does it work indoors? This was a concern for us. Yes, it will work indoors because it’s also charged with artificial light (unless you keep your house completely dark all day, that may be another problem to look into!). You can use their Solar App to see how much life it has left or keep warnings coming to give you a heads up so it doesn’t die on you mid-game.

Aside from the nifty and unique light power, there aren’t as many function keys to customize in this one, so if you were playing an RPG or FPS game where you’d like to streamline some hot keys, we recommend going with a different model. Otherwise, if you’re into solar gear and want a more convenient experience in the best wireless gaming keyboard, the Logitech K750 is an awesome solution.

IOGEAR Kaliber

Buy in US | UK

Here’s an even cheaper alternative to a gaming keyboard and mouse combo, so if you wanted to save some money yet still grab a relatively functional solution to wireless game playing here it is. This one has a wireless length up to 33 ft. and 8 anti-ghosting keys. Another plus is the water and dust proof which, if you’re a human being, have experienced at least one of these problems in the past whether you game or not. In terms of the mouse, it’s equipped with 7 buttons as well as 3 macro buttons, so even though the keyboard lacks extra key assigning you can do so with your mouse. It has some nice reviews backing up to give us confidence in the buy, and if you were into saving as much money as possible, take a look at the IOGEAR Kaliber as the best budget-friendly and standard wireless keyboard for gaming.

Eclipse Wireless LiteTouch

Buy in US | UK

Gaming Computer Keyboard

The Litetouch is a super cool solution to a wireless keyboard, and when it comes to gaming you may find some good use for it. For one, the overall build of it is quite luxurious, coming with a sleek metal finish, top cabinet as well as a low profile key build they coin “QuietTouch” — little to no noise here, and if you’re like us and are fans of softer and more quiet keys than average, this is a great one. Aside from the build however, the biggest standout and selling point of this pick is their mini touch-sensitive LCD on the right of the keyboard. It’s a 3-in-1 touch panel with extra keys to program, browse the net, access media (navigate TV shows or even music), as well as additional tasks of your computer. We’re not sure how easy this will be if you’re in the middle of some gameplay, but it can work out once you get used to it as well as find a good combination of keys since you can customize the LCD.

If you feel the touch LCD is a nice additional feature, the Eclipse Litetouch is a great wireless gaming keyboard.

TENMOS F1

Real Internet Idea User Manual Gaming Keyboard

Buy in US | UK

The F1 gives us a rugged and awesome-looking wireless keyboard for gaming, and this too is a mouse and keyboard combo to help us save some money in the long run. We have a nice ergonomic design with this one to help with fatigue, and the mouse also fits quite well in your hand without having to strain it. The mouse also has some DPI adjusting — from 600 to 2000 so you can make sure you’re comfortable (and effective in that game — we all know the importance of sensitivity, although you can also adjust that in your computer’s settings, too).

We also love this one due to the multimedia hot keys to keep our experiences convenient and easy flowing. Combine this with some quick thumb-side buttons as well as an adjustable holder and anti-slip track wheel, this thing is a nice bang-for-your buck. Check out the TENMOS F1 if you need an affordable, solid combo for both a wireless mouse and keyboard for gaming. It looks pretty sweet, too.

Logitech MX 5500

Buy in US | UK

Here’s another amazing wireless keyboard and mouse combo by Logitech. You have a nice wireless range via Bluetooth at about 30 feet in case you like to play on a TV or sit further away than most on whatever you’re using to project your game experience. Like the other Logitech keyboard we listed, this also has a nifty integrated LCD for a few simple commands, such as playing music (who doesn’t blast music while they game? At least if you aren’t needing to communicate with teammates or hear footsteps), and checking the timedate.

You lastly have a whopping 102 normal keys to get going on those custom assignments, and the mouse also has additional buttons if you’d like to use that for better game flow as well. We love the Logitech MX 5500 for yet another pick as the best wireless gaming keyboard in the market today.

Azio Vision KB506W

Buy in US | UK

Backlit, extra-large keys, internet buttons, multimedia and calculator keys (do you even use that calc program?), rechargeable battery for up to 2 weeks of use and a 30 ft. wireless range help give this a place at the end of our guide. Azio wasn’t a brand we had heard of before this research but the amount of user reviews around this one helped sell our choice.

The biggest highlight of this wireless gaming keyboard would be the bigger keys — not only for those with larger fingers (it’s OK if you do!), but those really with a preference for some more space when they game. It’s a bit higher up in price as compared to a few other budget-friendly models in here, but if you’re digging the keys and back light blue we’d say go with the Azio Vision.

Logitech MK550

Buy in US | UK

To top off our best wireless gaming keyboard guide, we have yet another Logitech model here to keep us ending strong. This is another keyboard and mouse combo but this one has thousands and thousands of positive reviews to back up our confidence in purchasing it. It’s laser mouse is contoured with a nice rubber grip to help with your control in the game, and there’s also a comfortable cushion rest on the keyboard if that’s what you fancy. What’s best about this one here is the battery life — no changes for up to three years (two years for the mouse)! You have a standard 30 foot range here as long as the receiver is in sight, and lastly (and most importantly) 18 additional programmable keys to help with hotkeys.

We love the Logitech MK550 if you wanted a wireless gaming keyboard and mouse combo with a battery life that doesn’t entail worrying, ever.
